Photo from October, a pond where I had my skiing panic from the last post, called The Pogue. I missed my chance to write about weather in the single digits, because now it is in the 50s and the snow is melting. Next time I’ll get right on the description of coldness.
I just spent a morning with Clem. We played in the closet, which has a sliding door, so you can walk in one end and out the other. She washed the dishes while I got ready to make bread, and then we mixed the dough together. She tried to eat a lot of yeast/milk/honey/flour mixture. We played with yellow eyed peas, using some measuring cups and a whisk. We read a few books including the perennial favorite ‘Gyo Fujikawa’s A to Z.’ She played with beaded necklaces and got in and out of suitcases while I cleaned the room. We zipped and unzipped many zippers. Despite rain and very high winds we went outside and played in the puddles, picked up the mail and waved at the postal car.
Oh- I want to tell you about the postal car. The lady has a regular car, so the seat is on the wrong side for reaching the mailboxes. She has some kind of long stick specially designed to open and close the mailboxes and shove the mail into them. One of the best parts of living here is driving up to the mailbox when I come home and leaning out the window to fetch the mail. I don’t know why that makes me so happy.

After the puddle jumping episode we came inside, got dry, started a fire, and took a nap.
