The pope arrived and we were not prepared. We have a foot of snow from last week and tonight we're supposed to get a very big storm. It's all about weather, tires and wood. Next week we'll get studded snow tires, tonight I unearthed our woodpile to bring more wood into the house. If we stay another winter I certainly have learned from our mistakes. It's not practical to put kindling on the ground and then put a tarp on top of it, because then you have to dig out the tarpy cave in order to find your kindling.
I skiied out the front door with Clem on my back this past week! That pretty much is the culmination of our experience here and we might as well go back west now. It was lovely. I haven't been on skiis for two or three years, I think. I skiied around the two large fields next to our house, maybe 20 minutes worth of skiing. I'm never sure how much cold C can tolerate. I tried to do it again today but after the 1/2 hour of getting dressed, C was ready to take a nap.
What else.... I've joined Facebook. Not because I need social networks, but for work research. So far I've just emailed a friend I usually email. I've only scratched the surface of how socially enriching Facebook will be for me, I'm sure. Maybe we'll find a Woodstock Facebook scene.
I'll attach some photos of where we're living, the fields where I skiied the other day. From warmer weather.
